A sparkling wine reception launched The Perse Benefactors' Garden Party on Thursday 1st July in the sumptuous surroundings of the Annual Speech Day marquee. This yearly event gives us at The Perse School, the opportunity to thank all our donors, however small or large, and those who have pledged a legacy in the past few years. Perse London Professionals Evening 2010

The Perse London Professionals Evening 2010 took place at the Royal Automobile Club, London on 20th May. The drinks reception was attended by past and present members of the Perse community who work in London. Guests chatted with friends and met with others who work in areas such as finance, business, accounting, media and law. The evening was hosted by Michael Pooles, QC, and included a brief address by The Hon. Mr Justice Lloyd Jones. Guests enjoyed complimentary drinks and canapés.

New Building Update

The new teaching block at the Perse Upper School, which will house 21 state of the art classrooms, 3 ICT rooms, and an extensive library and learning resources centre, is on schedule to open in September 2010.

OP Open Day 2010

Attendees of the OP Cambridge Open Day 2010 were treated to a guided tour of the Histon Manor estate (the home of former Headmaster Dr Rouse (1902-1928). The traditional AGM and lunch were held at the school, where OPs enjoyed fresh salmon, roast beef, and lemon and raspberry tart, accompanied by wine and home-made lemonade. Peter Biggs gave a tour of the immaculate Manor gardens, where OPs meandered through the Manor's own woodland, wandered through the secret garden and admired the old moat.

Old Perseans Rally for Funds

Two former pupils of The Perse have chosen a rather unusual way to raise money for their old school: attempting to drive a £100 car, painted like the Yellow Submarine, from London to Italy!
